Self-catering holidays are made easy in our fully equipped kitchen and spacious family dining room, providing the perfect setting to prepare and enjoy a meal with friends and family. Whether you want to cook a feast for everyone or just a simple snack, you’ll find all the necessary utensils and appliances to make it happen.
A couple of minutes walk will take you to our award-winning family-run delicatessen and grocers. Using local and homemade produce from John’s of Appledore and The Appledore Bakery means you can serve up delicious food anytime of the day. Conveniently, they're also open 7 days a week.

Our wonderful Farmer's Market is held on the first Saturday of every month. Stallholders range from fresh fruit and vegetables to delicious home-made cakes and artisan bread. It's well worth a visit.​
Nearby farm shops, food producers and markets, including the historic covered Pannier Markets in Bideford and Barnstaple, also offer a superb selection.

If you’d rather eat out, there’s a host of independent eateries within easy walking distance from the cottage.

Just a few steps from your door, popular waterfront restaurants The Royal George and The Beaver Inn offer picturesque views over the estuary Both use fresh, local produce offering a variety of dishes. The Beaver has live music and quiz nights every week.
It's a wonderful way to watch the sun go down.​

​​For a traditional take-away option, tuck into fish and chips from Sylvester's or The Royal Plaice. Fresh local fish cooked to order. Have your supper sitting on The Quay watching the sun set over the estuary

The Seagate serves great food, including freshly caught fish and seafood. If you're looking for a crowd pleaser, The Flame Factory brings "wood fired pizza, flame grilled burgers and rare breed Clovelly Longhorn steaks to the historic Appledore quayside". Diners can eat in or take-away.

Recent Muddy Stiletto Award finalists, The Yard stocks craft beers and wine from local vineyards as a great accompaniment to their tasty menu.

For desert, sample a locally made Hocking's Ice Cream from the van on The Quay. Alternatively you can take a tub back to the cottage for later. In our humble opinion, it's delicious and unique taste makes it the best ice cream in the country.
